Training

Thank you for your interest in becoming an umpire with Seattle Metro Softball Umpires Association (SMSUA).

Sean Wells works with umpires in our gym clinics.

We take a great deal of pride in the professionalism of all our umpires and have a state-of-the-art training program to make sure when you go out on the field as an umpire, you are ready to be successful.

Our new umpire training is developed specifically for the first and second year umpires or our association. We strongly encourage all first and second year members to attend our full training program. More experienced members are more than welcome to attend training as well.  The program usually runs about 6 weeks (one night a week) and includes both classroom learning and gym and field experience.

First year umpires must complete training and be cleared by the training staff prior to working games for SMSUA.
